Devirtualization

Materialization,or Devirtualization, is a process when someone from Lyoko is devirtualized into the real world. This usually occurs in the series in three ways: the said person is killed by a monster (or loses all of their Life points), Jeremie or Aelita runs a materialization program, or a Time Reversion is activated. Aelita couldn't undergo either process in Season 1 and 2. She had to be devirtualized in a Tower by Jeremie's materialization program.

All Vehicles and monsters have undergone "materialization", but not the kind of materialization described previously. Technically, they "materialize" into Lyoko, that is they appear out of nowhere. This process causes the Supercomputer's memory to be downed by a byte or so, as a monster takes up space. Some of XANA's creatures have actually materialized into the real world, like Kankrelat and Crabs.

When devirtualized a Lyokon will dissolve his/her color and turning into virtual structure, the virtual structure will then shatter into small cubicle particles, and the virtual structure disappears. In William's case, his color will start to disappear with the small particles (as smoke, not squares) and the same procedure follows, and it seems his eye of Xana on his chest will glow. Devirtualization happens by color:
